A tragic road rage incident in Oldbury, just two weeks before Christmas, has resulted in the conviction of 25-year-old Arslan Farooq. Farooq has been jailed for eight years and three months after pleading guilty to manslaughter and dangerous driving. His victim, 51-year-old Simon West, died four days after being fatally punched during the altercation on A4123 Wolverhampton Road on December 10 last year.

According to witness statements, Farooq confronted Mr West after forcing him to pull over, and in a fit of rage, punched him once, causing him to fall to the ground. Farooq then left the scene in his Vauxhall Astra, leaving Mr. West with serious head injuries.
