Officers were searching for a car in Radcliffe-on-Trent at around 8.30pm on Sunday (15 January 2023), acting on intelligence, when they spotted the vehicle in Shelford Road. It sped away through several villages before failing to stop for police on the A52. The vehicle was damaged before coming to a stop near the railway line in Aslockton. Two men fled on foot from the scene, one running along the railway tracks and the other hiding inside a cow shed near the line. Officers were assisted in locating both suspects by a National Police Air Service helicopter. A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s permission, driving recklessly, failing to stop, and possessing cannabis. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, failure to stop, and drugged driving. The occupants of this vehicle showed absolutely no regard for the safety of other innocent road users,” said Nottinghamshire Police Inspector Jayne Clarke. “This was a determined pursuit and highlights the skill of officers as well as their bravery. “As demonstrated by our response to the incident, we are committed to protecting the public and will take appropriate action against anyone who threatens public safety in this manner.”
