High-rise inferno sparks major fire response in Canning Town

Just after 9am on Friday, the London Fire Brigade raced to a raging fire on the seventh floor of a tower block at Rathbone Market, Barking Road. Reports said residents were trapped inside the blazing flat.

12 fire engines and crews battle fierce flames

A dozen fire engines hammered the scene as brave firefighters, kitted out with breathing gear and hose reels, stormed inside. They tackled the blaze using an aerial ladder platform and internal dry risers to reach the stubborn fire.

Smoke hoods deployed for nearby residents

Several neighbours were evacuated using smoke hoods amid thick smoke drifting through this modern residential block. Authorities quickly set up road closures around the tower to keep the area safe.
