Tragic stabbing shock in Southampton street
Just after 1am on Saturday, police were called to a grim scene on Warburton Road in Thornhill, Southampton.
Officers found a man in his 60s inside the property seriously injured. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Single stab wound confirmed
A post-mortem has revealed the victim died from a single stab wound to the chest. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Woman arrested then released
Yesterday, a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. After further investigation, police confirmed no charges will be brought against her.
Detectives plead for witnesses
“We are in the early stages and working hard to understand what happened,” said Detective Chief Inspector Dal Andrews.
He urged anyone who was in the Warburton Road area between 9pm on Friday, 24 February and 2am on Saturday, 25 February with any information to come forward.
He added: “If you have private CCTV or doorbell footage, or dash-cam from the area during that time, please get in touch.”
Extra police patrols remain active in the area to reassure the community.
