Gang Gun Attack Shakes Luton Streets

Lewis Gatehouse, Kendall Bizimana, and Samuel Martin fired shots at a rival gang member in Luton last April, sparking fear in the Marsh Farm neighbourhood.

Firing at Rush Hour Causes Chaos

The shooting happened just before 5pm on 19 April 2022 on Wauluds Bank Drive. The target’s car crashed into another vehicle carrying a family, but luckily no serious injuries were reported.

The trio, all on pushbikes and clad in black hoodies with face coverings, sped off after the attack.

Clues Left Behind Spark Quick Police Action

  • Shortly after, police received a call about a man asking for a taxi. When refused, he threw away a 9mm bullet casing.
  • Officers found a black pushbike nearby and pieced together CCTV footage showing a suspect dumping the bike.
  • The suspect matched the man who sought the taxi and was later identified as Kendall Bizimana.

Further checks linked the taxi call to Lewis Gatehouse. CCTV then spotted Samuel Martin in distinctive gear hanging out with Bizimana after the taxi dropped them off.

Busted and Banged Up: Long Sentences for Luton Trio

Just over a week later, Bedfordshire Police’s Boson guns and gangs squad raided properties and arrested Gatehouse and Martin. Bizimana surrendered soon after. All three were first charged with attempted murder.

  • Gatehouse, 20, confessed to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and firearm possession, plus possession of a prohibited weapon and drugs on a separate occasion. He was locked up for 17 years and 8 months—12 years 8 months for firearms, five years for the other offences, running concurrently with an eight-year GBH sentence.
  • Bizimana, 18, of Dunstable, got 11 years and 1 month for firearm offences, with a six-and-a-half-year GBH sentence to run simultaneously.
  • Martin, 18, also from Luton, pleaded guilty to GBH and threatening with a blade. He received four years plus 18 months concurrently.

The violent clash was part of ongoing battles between the rival OBK and Marsh Farm gangs, tearing through Luton’s streets last year.
