Gaza Death Toll Soars As Israel Bombards Northern Region
Israeli air raids have ripped through Gaza, killing at least 2,329 Palestinians and wounding 9,714, the territory’s health ministry reports. With tensions at breaking point, Israel has ordered nearly 1.1 million Palestinians in northern Gaza to evacuate south immediately for their own safety.
“Go South” – Israeli Army Issues Grim Warning
Israeli army spokesperson Jonathan Conricus took to social media early Sunday, urging residents of northern Gaza, Gaza City, and nearby areas to heed warnings and move south. “Go south, listen to our warnings,” he stated in a blunt 7 am video message, warning of intense military action ahead.
Conricus also denied Israel’s involvement in a deadly attack on a civilian convoy fleeing south on Saturday. “It may have been some kind of a freak accident,” he claimed, distancing Israeli forces from the tragedy that left many casualties.
US Sends Second Aircraft Carrier, Shows Muscle
The United States has ramped up support, deploying a second aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean. This bold move sends a clear signal of backing as Israeli jets and artillery continue their relentless missile strikes on Gaza, hitting from land, air, and sea.
Gaza Braces For Full-Scale Offensive
As warnings of an imminent Israeli ground invasion grow louder, thousands of Palestinians are fleeing southward. The Israeli military is reportedly preparing a vast offensive involving air, land, and sea assaults.
Recent air raids have targeted Khan Younis in southern Gaza, hitting medical centres and pharmaceutical warehouses. The grim toll from last week’s strikes now stands at over 2,215 killed and 8,714 injured, with children accounting for more than 700 deaths.
Meanwhile, violence also rages in the occupied West Bank where over 50 Palestinians have been killed in days. Israel has suffered around 1,300 deaths and more than 3,400 wounded since Hamas launched its attack on October 7.
Global Outcry And Protests
In Washington, D.C., President Joe Biden was heckled by a pro-Palestinian protester at a Gala event, reflecting the growing international unrest. Thousands have taken to streets worldwide, marching in solidarity with Gaza and demanding peace amid the bloodshed.
