Manhunt Intensifies for Wanted Predator Richard Scatchard
Detectives have hit the one-month mark in the hunt for Richard Scatchard, a convicted sexual predator wanted on recall to prison. Last spotted on CCTV in West Somerset on October 16, Scatchard remains at large despite numerous reported sightings.
80 Sightings, No Confirmed Capture
Since the search began, police have received around 80 tips from the public. However, none have been confirmed as Scatchard. Authorities warn he is dangerous, especially to women.
Linked to Murder of Kelly Faiers
Scatchard is also wanted for questioning over the death of 61-year-old Kelly Faiers, found dead at his home in Minehead on October 15. The pair were in a relationship and were last seen together at The Duke of Wellington pub on October 14.
Early the next morning, Scatchard called an ambulance for Kelly, who sadly died at the scene. Police spoke to him before he vanished without trace.
Known To Use Dating Apps, Scottish Accent
Scatchard, 70, is a white male about 5ft 11ins tall with a Scottish accent. He’s known to use dating apps and has a history of sexual offences, including drugging victims.
Last CCTV sighting placed him in Watchet, where he was known to frequent. Police urge the public not to approach him but to call 999 immediately with reference number 5223259285 if spotted. Tips can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police and National Crime Agency Collaborate
The Major Crime Investigation Team leads the inquiry into Kelly’s death with support from the National Crime Agency. Detective Superintendent Gary Haskins pleaded with the public for help, saying: “Any information could be vital to finding Scatchard and bringing justice for Kelly.”
