Burglar Bundled Away for Jewellery Raids in Kent
Patrick Moloney, a cocky crook, is heading to prison after a spree of late-October break-ins across Tonbridge and Dartford. Between 24 October and 2 November 2023, Moloney and his gang drove into Kent, targeting homes on the town outskirts while residents were away. Their loot? Priceless jewellery, mobile phones, and computers.
Police Crack the Case with Forensics and CCTV
Kent Crime Squad detectives swung into action, scouring forensic evidence and CCTV footage. They tracked down the gang’s getaway car, found dumped in Wickford, Essex on 2 November. Inside, officers discovered stolen jewellery and, crucially, Moloney’s DNA. This tied him directly to the crime scenes. Moloney was arrested on 6 December.
Moloney Gets 3 Years and 4 Months Behind Bars
Moloney, 21, from Sidcup, Greater London, faced eight burglary charges. He pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court and was sentenced on 27 June 2024 to three years and four months in prison.
Detective Slams Burglar’s ‘Shameful’ Theft of Sentimental Items
“Moloney and his partners-in-crime showed no thought for their victims. They were only after quick cash,” said Detective Constable Josh Littley. “Much of the jewellery stolen was of great sentimental value. Moloney should be thoroughly ashamed.”
“Burglary is an invasive crime, and we will stop at nothing to catch offenders. Thanks to diligent police work, Moloney was caught quickly and justice has been served.”
