Wiltshire Cop Faces Final Warning Over Gross Misconduct
Police Officer’s Misconduct Hearing Unveils Shocking Behaviour
A Wiltshire Police officer has been slapped with a final written warning after a misconduct hearing ruled his actions amounted to gross misconduct.
The hearing took place at Wiltshire Police HQ from July 29 to August 2, 2024, chaired by an independent legally qualified panel. PC Storm Brand was found to have breached key Standards of Professional Behaviour, including Authority, Respect and Courtesy, plus Equality and Diversity.
Sexually Inappropriate Conduct Sparks Investigation
Between July and November 2023, PC Brand allegedly behaved in a sexually inappropriate way towards female colleagues. Some incidents occurred while he was acting as a Sergeant, worsening the power imbalance with his victims.
The panel looked at three allegations against him:
- One allegation was upheld and ruled as gross misconduct.
- Another was partially upheld, amounting to misconduct.
- The third allegation was not proven.
Final Written Warning and Chance to Appeal
Following the findings, PC Brand received a final written warning, which will stay on file for three years. He has ten working days to appeal the decision under the Police Conduct Regulations 2020.
Chief Constable Slams Behaviour, Calls for Accountability
“Our communities expect the highest standards from our officers,” said Deputy Chief Constable Craig Dibdin. “This extends to how colleagues treat each other. PC Brand fell short and has been held accountable. I thank those who stepped forward to provide evidence and encourage anyone to report behaviour below standards.”
