Police Seek Two Key Witnesses in Southwark Station Murder Investigation

The British Transport Police (BTP) have released images of two individuals they believe may hold critical information in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old man at Southwark Underground Station, south-east London.

Incident Details

Sam Winter was assaulted on the station stairs around 9:30 pm on August 22, 2024. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but tragically passed away two days later, on August 24.

The ongoing investigation into the murder has led police to appeal for help in identifying two people captured in CCTV footage near the scene of the incident. Officers believe they may be witnesses and have urged them to come forward.

Suspect Charged

Rakeem Miles, of East Street, Southwark, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. Following Mr. Winter’s death, the charges were upgraded to murder.

Police Appeal

Detective Sergeant Tony Gittins, the investigating officer, said:

“We are releasing these images of two people thought to be witnesses in a murder investigation. I would like to stress these people are not suspected of any criminal activity, but they may have important information that will help our investigation.”

The BTP has asked anyone who recognizes the individuals in the images or who has relevant information to contact them immediately.
