Two Witnesses Sought After Southwark Tube Murder
Tragic Assault at Southwark Station
British Transport Police (BTP) are hunting two key witnesses after a 28-year-old man was brutally attacked at Southwark Underground Station, south-east London. Sam Winter was assaulted on the station stairs at around 9:30pm on August 22, 2024. Despite emergency hospital care, he sadly died two days later, on August 24.
Suspect Charged With Murder
Rakeem Miles from East Street, Southwark, was originally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. But following Sam Winter’s death, police have upgraded the charge to murder. Miles remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The BTP have released CCTV images of two people they believe may have vital information about the attack. Detective Sergeant Tony Gittins said:
“These individuals are not suspects but may hold important details to help solve this case. We urge them or anyone who recognises them to come forward without delay.”
