Swift Police Sting Nabs Seven in Major Oldham Car Theft Crackdown

Rapid Response Uncovers Car Theft Hub

In a daring police operation in Oldham, Greater Manchester, seven suspects have been arrested and two stolen vehicles recovered. Officers acted fast after a vigilant local reported suspicious activity on Newport Street around 3:47 pm on 9th February 2025.

They stumbled on what’s believed to be a high-tech car theft centre, halting a sophisticated vehicle crime ring in its tracks.

Stolen Fords Seized, Suspects in Custody

  • Two Ford Fiestas found hidden in a detached garage
  • Multiple false registration plates linked to other stolen Fords
  • Seven people arrested: four men (60, 45, 39, 32) and three women (43, 33, 27)

All are being questioned as police launch a deep probe into the organised chop-shop operation. Vehicles seized had been reported stolen locally and across surrounding areas.

Police Breakthrough Shuts Down Chop Shop

Chief Inspector Ian Partington said: “We suspect this garage was used to illegally dismantle vehicles for parts, which were then sold on for profit. Crime scene investigators are combing the area to gather crucial evidence for our vehicle examiners.”

This bust deals a heavy blow to the local vehicle crime wave.

Stay Alert: Tips to Protect Your Vehicle
