Unattended Garden Bonfire Sparks Fire Response in Ramsgate

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to tackle a small garden fire in an allotment on Whitehall Road, Ramsgate, after reports of an unattended bonfire on Friday evening.

Two fire engines arrived swiftly at the scene at around 6:37 PM, where crews discovered the uncontrolled bonfire. Firefighters used buckets of water to successfully extinguish the flames, preventing any potential spread to nearby allotments or properties.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has since issued a public safety reminder urging residents to exercise caution when lighting bonfires. A spokesperson said:

“We want to remind the community to never leave bonfires unattended and to ensure they are fully extinguished after use. Even small fires can quickly spread and pose risks to nearby structures and people.”

Firefighters also recommend keeping water or firefighting equipment nearby when burning garden waste and advise against lighting bonfires during windy conditions to prevent accidental spread.
