A Section 35 Dispersal Order has been put in place in Sidcup following reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) involving large groups of people in the area.
The order, which has been authorised by Acting Inspector West, will be active from 4:30 PM on March 1 until 4:30 AM on March 2, 2025.
What the Dispersal Order Means
Under the Section 35 order, police officers have the power to:
? Direct individuals or groups to leave the designated area if they are suspected of causing harassment, alarm, or distress.
? Ban individuals from returning for up to 48 hours if they are deemed to be engaging in ASB.
? Use enforcement measures, including arrest, for those who fail to comply with instructions.
Reason for the Dispersal Order
The Metropolitan Police introduced the temporary measure after concerns were raised about large groups gathering and engaging in disruptive behaviour. Officers will be conducting additional patrols to ensure public safety and order.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for the local policing team stated:
“We are responding to concerns from the community about anti-social behaviour and want to reassure residents that we are taking action to address the issue. The dispersal order allows us to prevent incidents before they escalate and ensures that Sidcup remains a safe place for everyone.
