Lockdown Drama at Oakwood School After Knife Threat

Chaos hit Oakwood School in Horley today when a Year 8 pupil allegedly punched a teacher before threatening her with a knife.

Swift Lockdown and Police Intervention

The shocking incident unfolded during lunchtime when the student struck Mrs. Rogers and then brandished a knife.

School staff immediately enforced lockdown procedures, keeping pupils safe while police raced to the scene.

Officers swiftly apprehended the 12-year-old girl, who remains in custody on suspicion of common assault. Thankfully, no one was harmed.

Parents and Pupils Left in the Dark

As the lockdown played out, worried parents and students flooded social media with concerns and confusion.

“The school is in lockdown and police are in attendance. This was an issue with a student, and the lockdown was put in place because it was lunchtime, and students were outside. The student involved is with police, and there is little risk. If this was a major incident, ambulances would be on standby, and there are none,” reassured parent Kevin Smith.

School officials later sent an official email confirming the situation was under control and all students were safe.

Investigation Underway as School Reviews Security

Surrey Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing into what sparked the incident.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Commander Inspector Jon Vale said: “Officers arrived quickly and the school had locked down to protect pupils and staff. We continue to work closely with the school as enquiries progress.”

Oakwood School is now expected to review its security policies to prevent any repeat. Local education authorities have vowed to maintain a safe environment for all pupils.
