Hastings Shoplifter Busted and Jailed After String of Thefts

Karl Williams, 41, from Stonehouse Drive, Hastings, has been locked up for 16 weeks following a spree of shoplifting across Sussex. The career thief was nabbed on July 13 after a fresh theft incident landed him in hot water once again.

Jailed and Hit with Criminal Behaviour Order

Williams faced multiple shop theft charges linked to local retailers. The court handed him a 16-week jail sentence and slapped on a tough Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Strict Conditions to Stop Repeat Crimes

  • Must leave any retail premises in Sussex if asked by staff or security
  • Banned from entering specified shops during the CBO period

This crackdown is part of Operation Apprentice, a force-wide effort to stamp out retail theft and protect businesses from ongoing losses and disruption.

Police Praise Local Businesses for Their Support

“I would like to thank all our partners but, most importantly, the businesses affected by shoplifting, for supporting investigations and providing vital evidence that allows us to take action.”

Sussex Police continue to target persistent offenders to protect shops and shoppers alike.
