A man in his 50s has died after being struck by an HGV and other vehicles on the M2 motorway near Gillingham, Kent Police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called at approximately 9.10pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026, following reports of a serious collision on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 4 and the slip road leading to Medway Services.
The victim, a local man in his 50s, was reportedly on foot in the carriageway when he was struck by a red MAN heavy goods vehicle and other vehicles.
Despite the attendance of emergency services, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.

The fatal incident occurred on the coastbound section of the M2 motorway near Gillingham, between Junction 4 and the slip road for Medway Services.
According to Kent Police, the pedestrian was in the carriageway when the collision involving the red MAN HGV and other vehicles occurred.
Emergency services attended following reports of the incident shortly after 9pm.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released his identity or further details about the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from motorists travelling along the coastbound M2 near Junction 4 and Medway Services at approximately 9.10pm on Tuesday.

Motorists are also being urged to check dashcam recordings for footage that may assist officers in establishing what happened.
