Officers were called to an address in London Road shortly after 1.20pm on Sunday 13 February to reports of a man in his 40s found injured.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is being treated as suspicious and we have started a murder inquiry.
On Tuesday 15 February, we arrested a 44-year-old man from Southend on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody at this time.
