Firefighters Tackle Blaze on Springfield Road

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a three-storey property on Springfield Road at 7:51pm on 11 March. Six fire engines, an aerial ladder, and an incident command unit were deployed.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used a hose reel jet and a main jet to douse flames found in the first-floor lounge. The house had already been evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Road Closures and Safety Precautions Enforced

Police helped with the emergency, closing nearby roads and advising residents to keep doors and windows shut as a precaution. All occupants were accounted for, officials confirmed.

Fire Under Control, but Area Still Restricted

By 9:40pm, the fire service scaled back the operation to two appliances as firefighting continued. Local residents are urged to stay clear while crews finish their work.
