A shocking attack on a 16-year-old schoolgirl took place right inside a busy Sheffield shopping centre while she queued at a shop till. South Yorkshire Police confirmed the horrific sexual assault happened on 23 July at the Jordanthorpe Centre.
Police Release CCTV Image After Three Months
Nearly three months after the incident, police have finally released a CCTV image of a man they believe can help identify the attacker. Despite the crowded evening of 6.35pm when the assault happened, the predator brazenly struck in public.
The police said: “We are now releasing a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to as we believe he may be able to help us with our investigation.”
Suspect Description
- Asian appearance
- Black hair and facial hair
- Late 30s
- Average build
- Around 5ft 5ins
The detailed description and clear CCTV still are key to rooting him out. Police hope someone in the community will recognise this man and come forward.
Community on Alert as Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Jordanthorpe Centre is a local shopping hub, often busy with residents. The shocking public attack raises serious questions about security in the area.
As the probe continues, police stress the vital role of community vigilance to ensure this attacker is brought to justice—and kept off the streets.
If you recognise the man in the CCTV image or have any information, contact South Yorkshire Police immediately.
