Two men locked up for 60 years after brutal Doncaster attempted murder
Savage Attack on Abbott Street
Two thugs have been sentenced to a combined 60 years after a vicious attack in Doncaster left a man fighting for his life. Jarvis Shields, 23, and Tony Reckless, 46, blasted and stabbed their victim on Abbott Street, Hexthorpe, in a horrifying assault in 2024.
The victim suffered serious chest and leg wounds after being shot multiple times and stabbed. Police were called just after 11pm on 17 October 2024 following reports of a man badly injured in the street. CCTV showed the two suspects stepping out of a Ford Focus on Hexthorpe Road shortly before the attack.
Gun Dumped in Rabbit Hutch – But Cops Snap Up Criminals Fast
Shields and Reckless attempted to hide their deadly weapon by stashing the gun in a nearby rabbit hutch. But South Yorkshire Police were quick to track them down. Ballistics tests confirmed the gun was the one used in the shooting, while phone records revealed Shields had contacted the victim minutes before the violent ordeal.
Shields Caught on Camera Pulling the Trigger
Grim CCTV footage showed Shields firing the gun, fumbling to reload, dropping bullets, then shooting twice more – causing near-fatal injuries. Both men, with no fixed addresses, were hauled before Sheffield Crown Court on 27 February and each sentenced to 30 years behind bars.
A third person, Lisa Nixon, was cleared of attempted murder and firearm charges in November 2025.
