Tragedy at Penrhys Primary: 8-Year-Old Girl Dies After Collapsing at School
A shocking tragedy hit Penrhys Primary School in Ferndale, Rhondda, South Wales yesterday when an eight-year-old pupil suddenly collapsed during lessons.
Emergency teams rushed to the scene just after 2pm and the girl was rushed to hospital. Sadly, she later died despite their efforts.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances, Coroner Investigates
South Wales Police have ruled out foul play. The case is now being investigated by the coroner.
“South Wales Police is investigating the sudden death of an eight-year-old girl in Ferndale. There are no suspicious circumstances, and an investigation on behalf of the coroner is underway,” a police spokesperson said.
School Shuts After ‘Traumatic’ Incident
The close-knit mountainside community is reeling from the tragedy. Staff described the event as “traumatic” and closed the primary school for the following day.
“Due to the traumatic event that happened at our lovely school this afternoon we will be closed for all children tomorrow. School will be open for children and staff again on Friday,” the headteacher posted on Facebook.
Community Mourns As Officials Urge Calm
Local councillor Julie Edwards urged the public to hold back from speculation while investigations continue.
“South Wales Police are fully investigating the matter and more details will be released shortly,” she said.
