Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Pedestrian Collision In South London

An appeal for witnesses has been launched by law enforcement authorities following a tragic collision in south London that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident occurred at the junction of Brighton Road and Woodfield Hill in Coulsdon on Friday, September 15.

Authorities were alerted to the collision at 11.35am on that fateful day, prompting a swift response from police, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance. At the scene, they discovered a 90-year-old man who had sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, the elderly pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, September 19. His family has been informed of the devastating news and is currently receiving support from officers belonging to the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command.

The driver of the van involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Notably, the driver was not arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives have diligently conducted various investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision. They are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with the police to come forward with any information they may possess. Additionally, authorities are urging individuals with dashcam footage recorded in the vicinity at the time of the collision to share their recordings as they could provide vital insights.
