Tragic Crash on A19 Claims Claire Laybourne’s Life
This is the first picture of Claire Laybourne, 39, a beloved mother who died following a suspected hit-and-run on the A19 at Holystone, North Tyneside. The crash happened around 10.40pm on Friday when Claire’s car collided with a Skoda Fabia and a Volkswagen T-Roc, both heading north.
The driver of the Skoda fled the scene on foot, leaving Claire with serious injuries. She was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away on Saturday.
Police Hunt Skoda Driver
Northumbria Police are urgently searching for the Skoda driver, described as having left the scene after the collision. The vehicle is a black Skoda Fabia with a 24-plate registration. Three men in their 20s and 30s were arrested but have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Sergeant Dave Roberts of the Roads Policing Team urged witnesses to come forward. “No matter how insignificant you think it may be, it could prove crucial to our ongoing investigation,” he said.

Police Appeal for Information
Officers are asking anyone who saw a black Skoda Fabia near the Holystone area around the time of the crash to get in touch. Anyone with information can contact Northumbria Police immediately.
