Last night turned ugly for West Yorkshire Police in Keighley when officers had their patrol car smashed by a flying brick. The reckless assault happened while they were on a routine patrol in Highfield, causing damage and risking serious injury.

Hero PC Dives into Canal in Dramatic Rescue

Just 30 minutes later, the same officers were called to a vehicle submerged in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Without hesitation, PC Everett plunged into the water, pulling the driver to safety. Officers immediately performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but tragically the man was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police Condemn Violence and Call for Witnesses

“Last night was a stark reminder of the challenges our officers face every day,” said West Yorkshire Police – Keighley. “This mindless attack is not just part of the job; it takes a real toll on those risking their lives for the public. We will not tolerate this behaviour, and investigations continue. Anyone with information about the brick attack is urged to come forward.”

These chilling events underline the dangerous reality officers face: targeted by violence one moment, saving lives the next. The police are determined to catch those responsible and keep communities safe.
