Car fire at Wootton see buses on Divert

A car fire has seen the closure of a road and buses put on diverted on the Isle of Wight this evening. It is understood that the car burst into flames near The Woodmans Arms on Station Road , Wootton. All route nine buses have been put on divert via Fairlee until further notice. Southern Vectis has advised. Fire crews from Isle of Wight fire and rescue stationed at Newport sent to tackle the vehicle. Hampshire Police are also in attendance at the incident. It is understood that the fire started internal on the 2012 Black VW Golf. Fire Crews used one hose reel to put out the flames . The fire has left the vehicle totally gutted. The driver of the vehicle escaped without injury and raised the alarm. More to follow
