Migrant Prowler Jailed for Three Terrifying Sex Attacks on Women Commuting to Work
Sex Fiend Strikes at Dawn and Midnight
Sohail Amiri, a 30-year-old married dad-of-two living in an asylum hotel in Southampton, has been locked up for 36 months after a string of sickening sex assaults on three women heading to or from work.
Over two months, Amiri demanded kisses, groped, and forced himself on his victims, leaving them terrified to walk alone and battling sleepless nights.
- Early morning horror: First victim was ambushed at 6:30am with Amiri pleading, “Just give me one kiss.”
- Second victim refused his advances but was shoved against a letterbox as he pushed for a kiss.
- In a chilling midnight attack, the third victim—a student—was forcibly kissed and pinned against bushes despite struggling to escape.
Illegal Migrant Faces Harsh Justice
Southampton Crown Court heard that Amiri entered the UK illegally aboard a “clandestine small boat.” He was housed at Highfield House Hotel after seeking asylum, which was later refused. His appeal is still pending.
Prosecutor Gary Venturi: “The Home Office received an asylum application from him, he was housed in Highfield House Hotel in Southampton, his asylum application was refused by December 20, 2024, and an appeal is outstanding.”
Amiri also admitted breaching the Immigration Act 1971 by entering the UK without permission and has been slapped with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order alongside his jail sentence.
Victim’s Harrowing Account and Solid Evidence
The third victim painted a harrowing picture of Amiri’s aggressive behaviour. Despite her protests about having a boyfriend, he grabbed her wrist, forced kisses, and tried to shove his tongue into her mouth.
“She describes attempts to put his tongue in her mouth, smearing his mouth across her face… When she tried to run away, Mr Amiri grabbed her wrist again, shoving her into bushes and holding her tightly.”
CCTV footage and DNA evidence from saliva found on the victim’s face sealed his fate.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Higgins of Hampshire Constabulary said: “Sohail Amiri’s behaviour was predatory and created a great deal of fear and anxiety for all three women, who should be able to feel safe in their own community. Their courage and bravery throughout meant we have been able to present a case to the court which Amiri has had no choice but to plead guilty to.”
Backstory: Taliban Escapee Claims
In a defence plea, Amiri’s lawyer revealed he fled the Taliban after his father was murdered and claimed he helped anti-Taliban fighters before seeking UK sanctuary.
