Anthony Lanchester, 20, from Ilkeston, has been jailed for six years and six months after being found guilty of raping one boy and assaulting another.
Horrific Attacks in Local Parks
On the evening of 15 October last year, Lanchester stalked a boy as he walked a friend home. The predator followed the teenager into Wash Meadows Recreation Ground, known locally as Johnny’s Park, off Millership Way.
He tried to hug the boy before sexually assaulting and raping him.
The attack was reported to police on 27 November, leading to Lanchester’s arrest on 2 December.
Second Assault While on Bail
Shockingly, while out on bail for the first attack, Lanchester struck again. On 15 April this year, he sexually assaulted another boy in broad daylight on Beauvale Drive, Cotmanhay.
He was arrested just two days later on 17 April, facing charges of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
Convictions and Court Orders
Lanchester pleaded not guilty on 30 May, but a Nottingham Crown Court jury found him guilty on 20 October of rape and two sexual assaults. He was cleared of one assault charge related to the second victim.
Sentencing on 1 December, the judge ordered the prison term to be served in a young offenders’ institution. Lanchester must also stay on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
Additionally, restraining orders were imposed on both victims for five years.
Justice served for victims and the community alike as this dangerous predator is locked up.
