Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are urgently seeking information to identify a man who attempted to rape a woman in West Ham. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 1, around 10.30pm near the junction of Paul Street and West Ham Lane (E15).
According to reports, the victim, a woman in her 30s, was approached by an unknown man. He followed her before assaulting her from behind in an attempted sexual assault. The woman’s screams alerted nearby residents, and officers arrived at the scene promptly. However, the assailant had already fled the area, running toward West Ham Lane.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, dark hair, and a beard. He was last seen wearing a light denim jacket, a dark v-neck T-shirt, and dark trousers.
Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Burks, who is overseeing the investigation, emphasised the seriousness of the incident: “Our officers are working tirelessly to identify the man responsible for this awful attack. We have dedicated specialist officers supporting the victim during this traumatic time.”
