A devastating explosion rocked the Kalsu military base, located approximately 50 kilometres (31 miles) south of Baghdad in the province of Babil (Babylon), resulting in one fatality and 20 injuries. The base, utilised by the Iran-aligned Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), suffered significant damage to infrastructure and vehicles.
The Incident

PMF’s Allegations
In a statement, the PMF attributed the attack to “American aggression”, accusing the United States of bombing the Kalso military base. The base, situated near the town of Iskandariya, has been a focal point of tension in the region.
Iraqi Military’s Response
Contrary to the PMF’s claims, the Iraqi military reported no evidence of drones or fighter jets in the airspace over the Babil area before or during the explosion. One PMF member lost their life, and eight others sustained injuries, according to an official army statement.
