The body of missing pensioner Brian Wright has been discovered dumped in a Nottinghamshire field, just days after his son was found dead nearby. The horrifying case is now being treated as a suspected murder-suicide.
Search Ends in Tragedy
Brian Wright, 82, was located near Danethorpe Lane after police acted on a tip-off that the elderly farmer had died. His son, believed to be 52-year-old Charles Wright, was found dead days earlier in an outbuilding off the A1133 in Langford.
Police and Family React
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed officers have informed the families and are providing support through specially trained staff. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said:
“This is clearly a deeply tragic case, and we are continuing to support family members at this extremely difficult time.”
The force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact with the family, to maintain transparency.
No Other Suspects
Authorities stressed detectives are not hunting anyone else in connection with the deaths. They also clarified there is no link to a nearby hit-and-run incident that happened shortly before Charles was found.
A post-mortem and formal identification are due soon. The case is shaking the local community in Langford as they come to terms with the devastating events.
