Tributes Pour In for PC Mathew Parker
The heartbroken family of PC Mathew Parker have paid tribute to the beloved father, brother, husband, and uncle following his tragic death last week. The Essex Police officer died instantly after crashing while responding to an emergency call on the busy A12 near Ingatestone.
Authorities confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the fatal accident. PC Parker, known as Mat to those close to him, had served with Essex Police since 2010 and was most recently part of the Chigwell Roads Policing Team.
Passionate Rider and Dedicated Officer
A statement from his family revealed Mat’s love for motorbikes and his pride in owning a Harley Davidson. “Mat lived a life defined by dedication and integrity,” they said. “Beyond his service as a proud Essex Police officer, he was a man of strong values and a generous heart.”
The statement continued: “He found joy and freedom on his motorcycle, reflecting his love of adventure and camaraderie. Mat will be remembered not only for his courage and commitment but for the warmth he brought to those closest to him.”
Community and Police Mourn a Hero
Mathew leaves behind his wife, daughters, parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. His family cherishes his laughter, honesty, and strong character. “His spirit will live on in the memories and love he gave so freely,” they said.
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow, head of Essex Police’s Operational Policing Command, said: “We remain absolutely devastated at the loss of our proud and dedicated colleague Mat, who made the ultimate sacrifice responding to a call for help.”
“The public support and compassion from across Essex and the wider UK policing community has been deeply touching,” he added. “Mat was brave and courageous. We stand united in grief with his family and continue to support them through this unimaginably difficult time.”
