Once a buzzing All Bar One in the heart of Brighton, 2–3 Pavilion Buildings has had a dramatic makeover. The corporate-style cocktail hotspot shut for good in late 2024 after a fire and a brief comeback — but now, it’s back with a brand-new mission.
Fire Disaster Sparks a Bold New Beginning
A fierce blaze ripped through the venue in 2020 during COVID lockdowns, leaving it gutted. Although it briefly reopened, the chain soon quit, leaving this prime central Brighton location deserted and ripe for reinvention.
Meet The North Star: A Pub That Gives Back
Brighton charity Team Domenica swooped in during 2025 with a game-changing idea. They transformed the space into The North Star, a social enterprise pub and café that trains young people with learning disabilities and autism.
Since opening on 19 November 2025, The North Star has been buzzing — staffed mostly by trainees guided by dedicated mentors. Every pint poured and meal served helps fund vital training programmes and support services, offering a fresh chance to those often left behind in the job market.
Community Heart Meets Quality Pub Fare
Gone is the slick corporate vibe. The North Star now radiates warmth and inclusion. Its menu serves up classic pub favourites alongside tempting vegan and vegetarian options, all in a stylish, accessible setting.
The name is no accident — it represents hope and guidance, echoing Brighton’s spirit of creativity and acceptance. Outside, traces of the old All Bar One remain. Inside? A vibrant new space where hospitality truly transforms lives.
