A cyclist is fighting for his life after being struck in a hit-and-run smash on North Road, Preston, in the early hours today.
Shocking Collision at Dawn
Lancashire Police revealed the chilling details. At 4.51am, North-West Ambulance Service was flagged down by a passerby who found a man unconscious in the road. Nearby, a damaged bike lay abandoned, showing signs of a serious collision.
The cyclist was rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
Suspect Arrested After Police Hunt
Following the crash, officers tracked down a black Ford Focus in nearby Fulwood. The car bore damage matching the collision.
A 24-year-old man from Fulwood was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He remains in custody.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Officers are eager to piece together exactly what happened. They are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage between 4.30am and 4.50am, especially motorists passing through the area, to come forward immediately.
