West Yorkshire Police have launched a frantic manhunt for three men following a brutal attack in Huddersfield’s quiet Springwood Hall Gardens. A 27-year-old man was shot in the back and stabbed in the leg while sitting in his car on November 20, 2025 – shaking a family-friendly neighbourhood to its core.

Violent Assault Rocks Peaceful Street

At just 5:35 p.m., two suspects approached the victim’s car. One fired pellets into his back while the other stabbed him in the leg with a knife. The attackers then sped off in a black car, driven by a third suspect. The vehicle’s make and model remain a mystery, complicating police efforts.

Detective Inspector Tom Hilyer from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team told us: “This was a very violent, targeted attack. We believe witnesses were on the street at the time, and we urge anyone with footage or information to come forward.”

Victim Stable, But Community On Edge

The victim was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Thankfully, he was discharged by November 22, though police guards remain at his home.

Neighbours described hearing gunshots and screams. One hero neighbour with first aid skills applied towels to staunch the victim’s bleeding before emergency services arrived, possibly saving his life.

Despite the brutal nature of the attack, police stress there’s no wider threat – but community fears linger. Springwood Hall Gardens is usually a peaceful, family and student area close to Greenhead College, around two miles from Huddersfield town centre.

Police Investigate Motive and Hunt Suspects

  • No arrests yet, but the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are treating the case as firearms-related violence.
  • Forensic teams have combed the crime scene for evidence, while CCTV and dashcam footage are being scrutinised to trace the suspects’ movements.
  • A police helicopter circled the area on the evening of November 21, highlighting the urgency to capture the armed men.
  • Police have not released suspect descriptions, but the calculated use of gun and knife signals premeditation, not random violence.

Local sources speculate possible links to personal disputes or organised crime. The area has seen a rise in violence, with 175 crimes reported nearby in September 2025.

Community Pleads for Answers

Neighbours remain on edge, avoiding evening walks. Residents worry about armed suspects still at large despite police reassurances.

West Yorkshire Police have urged anyone with information, footage, or who saw suspicious vehicles around the time to call 101 quoting reference 13250669332, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The victim’s identity is being kept under wraps for safety reasons. His quick recovery hints that, while serious, his injuries did not hit critical organs.

With no arrests yet, questions swirl over why this man was targeted so violently during daylight hours in a residential area. The hunt continues, and police urge the public to come forward with any leads.
