A jury has retired to consider verdicts in a chilling case against three Ipswich brothers accused of assaulting a schoolgirl over 40 years ago.
The Accused: Ipswich Brothers on Trial
At Ipswich Crown Court, Shubhashish Day, 56, Debashish Day, 55, and Ramashish Day, 51, all from Heath Road, Ipswich, face multiple indecent assault charges. They deny eight offences dating from 1984 to 1990.
Additionally, Debashish and Shubhashish deny eight further offences from 1982 to 1984. Shubhashish also denies a separate charge of indecent assault and an offence of indecency with a child.
Disturbing Allegations From Two Former Schoolgirls
The accusations come from two women who were schoolgirls when the alleged abuse took place. During testimony, Shubhashish vehemently denied claims about sexual misconduct during childhood games like hide and seek.
“I did not enter a cupboard where one girl was hiding, nor try to kiss or grope her,” Shubhashish told the court. He also rejected suggestions the brothers acted as a “team,” with one standing guard while others abused the victim.
Jury to Resume Deliberations Friday
The jury will return to court on Friday to continue debating their verdict in this deeply troubling trial.
