A man arrested over the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue terror attack has now been charged – but not for the attack itself.
Manchester Man Hit with Terror Charges
Mohammad Asim Bashir, 31, from Shaftesbury Road, Cheetham Hill, was arrested at Manchester Airport on November 27. He faces charges related to terrorism, but none tied directly to the synagogue attack on October 2.
Serious Terror Offences Laid
- Preparation for acts of terrorism (Section 5, Terrorism Act 2006)
- Dissemination of terrorist publications (Section 2, Terrorism Act 2006) – three counts
Bashir, who identifies as British Pakistani, remains remanded and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Released Over Synagogue Attack
Initially arrested on suspicion of planning or instigating the Heaton Park attack, Bashir has since been released without charge concerning the incident.
The case continues to develop as police hunt for answers in this shocking terror scare at a place of worship.
