Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, 81, has been rushed into intensive care following emergency surgery. The 81-year-old was taken to hospital on Tuesday after suddenly falling ill at home.
Three Hours Under the Knife
Thomas underwent a gruelling three-hour operation on Thursday. Doctors transferred him to intensive care that same evening and are now preparing for a second operation to remove a blood clot.
His son, Thomas Jr, revealed:
“I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger. They raced us by ambulance, with sirens going, to a bigger hospital in the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery.”
He added, “I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts. My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”
Family Prayers and Past Struggles
Thomas’s daughter Samantha expressed hope for her dad’s recovery:
“He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this. My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and even an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this.”
The pensioner has faced serious health issues in recent years, including two heart attacks and a stroke. He previously lived in Mexico for a decade before moving to the Philippines earlier this year.
Estranged from Meghan Since 2018
Thomas has been estranged from Meghan Markle since he was unable to walk her down the aisle at her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry due to health problems. The pair have not been in contact since.
Relations soured further after Thomas posed for staged paparazzi shots ahead of the royal wedding, causing a family feud that remains unresolved.
