A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed without notice after a misconduct hearing found he had used his work-issued phone to contact sex workers, including while on duty. PC Shabul Miah, who had been attached to the North East Public Protection Unit, was found to have exchanged a significant number of text messages with mobile numbers linked to sexually explicit websites between 5 April and 12 October 2024.

Misconduct Hearing Findings

During the hearing held on Friday, 28 March, the panel was told that PC Miah had used his Met-issued phone for personal sexual gratification, in breach of professional standards. This dismissal comes amid ongoing efforts by the Met to rebuild public trust and enforce stricter accountability within the ranks.
