A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed without notice after a misconduct hearing concluded on Wednesday, July 19. PC Wesley Griffith, who was attached to the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at the level of gross misconduct.
The misconduct hearing examined allegations that PC Griffith’s behaviour towards a woman, who was known to him, was controlling and coercive. Additionally, it was alleged that he assaulted her during an argument in February 2022, while he was off-duty.
After reviewing all the evidence presented, the Chair of the misconduct hearing found the case of gross misconduct proven. It was determined that PC Griffith had indeed breached the standards of professional behaviour, leading to his dismissal without notice.
Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who leads the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, emphasised the importance of upholding high standards within the police force. She stated, “We must give the communities of london" title="London" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="68858">London a Police service that it deserves, and anyone that fails to meet that standard cannot possibly remain in our organisation.”
