A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run collision on Salmon Lane, E14, on Saturday, January 4, prompting a swift response from Metropolitan Police.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m., following reports of a car colliding with a pedestrian. Emergency services attended, and the injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Driver Arrested After Failing to Stop

The driver involved in the incident failed to stop at the scene but was arrested nearby on suspicion of drink driving. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the suspect or the charges they may face.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed:
“We responded to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Salmon Lane, E14. The driver did not remain at the scene but was later apprehended and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.”

Investigation Ongoing

A police investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway. Officers are urging any witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision to come forward.
