Manzorr Hussain and Imtiaz Ali face justice for historic torture of young victims
Two cousins have been locked up for decades after a relentless “campaign of rape” against vulnerable girls in the 1990s. Manzorr Hussain, 55, and Imtiaz Ali, 54, were convicted at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for systematically grooming and sexually abusing five teenagers across Bury and parts of Wales.
Hussain gets 30 years, Ali 28 for appalling abuse
Hussain, from Bury, was sentenced to 30 years after being found guilty of seven counts of rape and six counts of indecent assault. Radcliffe’s Ali got 28 years, convicted of five rapes, five indecent assaults, and one attempted indecent assault.
The men preyed on their victims with alcohol, drugs, money, and offers of lifts before abusing them in homes, cars, and other sinister locations. Their heinous acts spanned years, with some victims forced through threats or coercion.
Victim impact: trauma that lasted decades
“It’s been an incredibly difficult time, having to relive what happened. The offences those men committed have caused a lot of trauma. My family and friends deserve closure,” said one survivor.
“I lost my childhood, education, and career. I’m unable to work. They stole my dignity, self-worth, trust and identity. Every day is a battle, some days feel impossible.”
Police vow to bring predators to justice, no matter how long ago
Chief Inspector Ian Partington praised the victims for their courage; their testimony was crucial. He said: “Manzorr Hussain and Imtiaz Ali are predators who targeted vulnerable girls. Their detailed memories and historic social services records helped us link them to the crimes. Our teams work tirelessly to keep children safe and prosecute offenders. Time is no barrier — abuse, however old, will be thoroughly investigated.”
CPS Specialist Prosecutor Claire Brinton added: “These sentences reflect the gravity of the crimes committed by Hussain and Ali who groomed and abused vulnerable children. They showed no remorse, and the trauma endured by these women for decades is unimaginable. We hope this justice brings some closure and shows that such criminals will be held accountable.”
