Southampton Park sealed off following Stabbing

An area around a Southampton recreation ground has been cordoned off by police following a fatal stabbing we can reveal. Police remain at Hinkler Green in Thornhill after a person was Fatally wounded and died in the early hours of this morning. Police tape can be seen in several areas along with a number of Police vehicles. Specialist scene of crime officers are also at the scene. Shocked residents described seeing a sea of blue light turn up in the early hours of the morning, Police, Paramedics and an ambulances also attended. A spokeman for Hampshire Police have since released the following : Detectives have launched an investigation in Thornhill following the suspicious death of a man believed to be aged in his twenties from Southampton. We were called at 1.38am today (Saturday 11 March) after he was found with serious injuries to his chest on the road in Gilpin Close, Southampton. Sadly the man later died at Southampton General Hospital. Officers are still trying to establish the circumstances of what has happened at the current time. A cordon has been put in place in Gilpin Close, house-to-house enquiries are being undertaken, and patrols have been increased in the area.
