Couple Jailed for Running Ruthless Human Trafficking Ring in Aldershot
A husband and wife have been locked up for nearly five years combined after running a brutal human trafficking and prostitution racket across Aldershot and Guildford.
Dark Brothel Empire Spanning Two Towns
Wei-Gong Li, 45, and Yafeng Dong, 53, of Birchett Road, Aldershot, ran two brothels—one in Aldershot and another in Guildford. They shuttled women between the locations, exploiting them as men paid for sex.
The Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) launched an investigation in November 2023 after a welfare check at an Aldershot property revealed a lone woman surrounded by lingerie and condoms.
Police Cracked Down with Raids, Seizing Fake IDs and Phones
Police executed warrants at their properties in Ascot Court, Birchett Road, and Bellerby Apartments, Guildford. They seized 12 fake IDs, 10 mobile phones, laptops, keys, USB sticks, and SIM cards used to run the illicit business.
Financial detectives uncovered suspicious cash deposits totalling a staggering £182,385 with no legitimate source. Phone records showed Li and Dong controlled brothels, organised payments, and moved women to maximise profits.
Guilty Pleas Lead to Tough Jail Sentences
Li admitted to controlling prostitution for gain, facilitating travel for exploitation, possessing criminal property, and more.
Dong pleaded guilty to similar offences, including controlling prostitution and money laundering.
On Friday 13 March at Winchester Crown Court, Li was sentenced to two years and one month behind bars. Dong received an even harsher sentence of two years and eight months.
