Sex Offender Locked Up For Attacks On Vulnerable Teen
Zana Adil Mohammed, 48, from Huddersfield, has been jailed for over five years after abusing a teenage boy more than a decade ago. Leeds Crown Court sentenced him to 62 months on Thursday, 9 April, following his guilty plea to multiple sexual offences committed back in 2011.
Horrific Grooming And Abuse In Huddersfield
The crimes unfolded in December 2011, targeting a vulnerable young boy in Huddersfield. The brave victim reported the abuse, sparking a police investigation that would eventually bring Mohammed to justice.
- Five counts of sexual activity with a child
- Four counts of making indecent images and pseudo-photographs of children
Fugitive Caught At Birmingham Airport After Fleeing UK
Mohammed fled the country early in the probe, disappearing to Iraq. Police tracked him down and discovered in October 2025 that he planned to return to Britain. Officers arrested him immediately as he landed at Birmingham International Airport on 16 October. He was charged and appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court just two days later on 18 October. The case was reopened after Kirklees safeguarding officers re-investigated the original rape allegation from December 2011, leading to his arrest and ultimate conviction.
