Man tries to dodge justice by ditching his jacket and hair
Mohammed Rekwet, 20, thought he could slip the net after stabbing a man in Bedford town centre. He chopped off his hair, shaved his beard, and tossed a distinctive jacket. But he slipped up by wearing the same trainers at the scene and in custody — a gaffe detectives used to nail him.
Knife attack caught on CCTV
The violent incident kicked off inside a pub on Mill Street in the early hours of Sunday 2 March 2025. CCTV later caught Rekwet and his victim in a nearby alley where Rekwet lunged with a knife, causing serious injuries.
Public tip leads cops to doorstep arrest
Thanks to a tip-off from a member of the public, cops tracked Rekwet to his home. Footage showed him returning shortly after the attack, wearing the same clothes spotted on the CCTV from the scene. Police matched his trainers to those on the CCTV when he was taken into custody.
Rekwet sentenced for wounding with intent
The Conduit Road resident pleaded guilty at Luton Crown Court and was sentenced today (Friday) to two years and four months in prison. Justice served after a sloppy effort to go undercover.
