A 42-year-old man has been nabbed after police found more than £100,000 in fake £20 notes during a raid in Kidderminster.
Fake Cash and Printing Gear Busted
West Mercia Police stormed a Goldthorn Road property following a tip-off linking the suspect to selling counterfeit notes on eBay. Officers uncovered a haul of forged £20s plus the equipment used to churn out the dodgy cash.
The man was arrested on Saturday, 10 January, on suspicion of supplying counterfeit banknotes. He’s since been released under investigation as police hunt for more leads.
Police Sound the Alarm on Fake Notes
Detective Sergeant Matt Robinson from North Worcestershire’s CID warned: “We seized over £100,000 in counterfeit cash and related equipment. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of supplying fake notes.”
“We urge the public to learn how to spot fake banknotes and report any suspicious ones. Those caught dealing in counterfeit cash face criminal records, prison, and asset confiscation.”
How to Spot a Fake £20
- Feel the texture – genuine notes have a unique paper feel.
- Check for holograms and watermarks.
- Look for the see-through window feature.
- If unsure, compare with a real note or visit the Bank of England website.
Police are urging everyone to stay sharp and report any dodgy notes or suspicious transactions to crack down on counterfeit scams before they spread.
