A 39-year-old man has been locked up for 22 years after he was convicted of attempted murder in Corby.
Brutal Stabbing on Mantlefield Road
On the evening of July 8 last year, police rushed to Mantlefield Road following a stabbing report. Nicoloie Pletescu attacked a man in his 30s, plunging a knife into him three times. With each stab, the court heard Pletescu chillingly shout “die”.
Victim Names Attacker – Longtime Friends Turned Foes
The victim, who had known Pletescu for over 20 years, immediately identified him as the assailant. After the attack, police found the weapon washed and left on a draining board in Pletescu’s home.
Obsession Over Rumoured Affair Sparks Violent Outburst
During investigations, it emerged Pletescu was consumed by the unfounded belief that the victim was having an affair with his wife. The claims were firmly denied, and no evidence was found to back the affair.
Guilty Verdict and Heavy Sentence
Pletescu, formerly of Corby, was found guilty on January 14 after a three-day trial at Northampton Crown Court. Today, April 13, he was sentenced to 22 years behind bars with an additional five years on extended licence.
