Police are currently investigating a suspected arson attack that occurred at the constituency office of North London Conservative MP Mike Freer on Christmas Eve.
The incident unfolded at approximately 7pm, resulting in a fire at the rear of the office, located in the uk/news/uk/North-Finchley" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="North Finchley" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="98884">North Finchley and Golders Green area.
Metropolitan Police have confirmed that they are looking into the incident. Fortunately, no individuals were inside the building at the time of the fire.
Mike Freer spoke with the BBC about the incident, stating that the fire specifically occurred at the rear of the premises. He added, “The police and fire brigade were on the scene in minutes and have been incredible in their response.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police released a statement, explaining that the fire originated in a shed outside the Ballards Lane office. They further noted, “The cause of the fire is under investigation as it is believed it may have been started deliberately. There have been no arrests made at this time.”

Mike Freer has been serving as the Member of Parliament for the North London constituency since 2010. He currently holds the position of parliamentary under-secretary of state for courts and legal services, a junior role within the Ministry of Justice.
