Man Charged With Knife Crime After Stop And Search In Dartford

Three men have been charged in connection with a vehicle theft conspiracy following a police investigation into multiple car thefts in the South East, including Sittingbourne, Tunbridge Wells, and Bromley.

Between 14 September 2023 and 9 April 2024, Kent Police conducted extensive enquiries into reports of stolen vehicles across the region. Their investigation led to the arrest of two suspects at an address in Lower Road, Teynham, near Sittingbourne, on 12 April 2024, with a third man being apprehended at the same location the following day.

Searches at the property resulted in the recovery of a vehicle reported stolen from Bromley in January 2024 and another car allegedly stolen from Essex in October 2023. Additionally, officers seized vehicle components believed to have originated from stolen cars in Tunbridge Wells, London, Essex, and Hampshire between October 2023 and April 2024. A canister containing a chemical irritant spray was also found.

On Wednesday, 5 March 2025, three suspects were formally charged in connection with the offences:

  • Peter Clarkson, 47, of Noreen Avenue, Sheerness, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, and handling stolen goods.
  • William Dove, 40, of Queen’s Road, Peckham, London, was charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles and handling stolen goods.
  • Marshall Underdown, 19, of Harris Road, Sheerness, was charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, handling stolen goods, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

All three men were granted bail with conditions and are due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 11 April 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with further information to contact Kent Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
